FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
CBD
#1: What is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol. It’s the dominant chemical compound in the hemp plant. It’s a naturally occurring plant derivative that has been used for centuries thanks to its many beneficial properties. CBD is currently the most popular hemp-derived compound available.
#2: How Much CBD is in Hemp?
The amount of CBD in hemp depends on the strain, as some breeders develop higher-CBD strains than others. Generally, there’s about 15-20% CBD that naturally occurs in hemp. Some strains contain more or less.
#3: Is CBD Legal?
CBD is fully legal thanks to the Farm Bill of 2018. This bill was passed by the United States to legalize the hemp plant and its derivatives including CBD. Federal law says that all hemp products that contain a maximum of 0.3% delta 9 THC are legal. CBD is also legal throughout all 50 states.
#4: Is CBD Intoxicating?
CBD is a non-intoxicating compound. Therefore, it will not get you high. The hemp plant as a whole is non-intoxicating as it contains too little THC (0.3%) to cause intoxication. Even high doses of CBD will not get you high.
#5: Is CBD Safe?
#6: Does CBD Really Work?
#7: How Does CBD Work?
CBD is a type of compound known as a cannabinoid. Cannabinoids like CBD are the only compounds that work with the body’s endocannabinoid system, which uses these compounds to keep the body in homeostasis. CBD is sent to cannabinoid receptors throughout the body to bind to them, which triggers a balancing effect that keeps each bodily system in a state of equilibrium. Therefore, CBD can offer positive effects to the entire body and mind.
#8: What is Full Spectrum CBD?
Full spectrum CBD contains the “full spectrum” of compounds naturally found in hemp. This includes every cannabinoid, terpene, flavonoid and nutrient present. Full spectrum hemp contains the trace amount of non-intoxicating, legal THC that naturally occurs as well. Many believe full spectrum CBD is ideal as it produces the entourage effect, which allows synergy to improve the effectiveness of each compound.
#9: What is Broad Spectrum CBD?
Broad spectrum CBD is a hemp extract that contains every natural compound except for THC. It’s ideal for those who want to enjoy a number of cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and nutrients, but desire zero THC. While the THC in hemp is unlikely to trigger a positive drug test result, some still avoid it for either professional or personal reasons.
#10: What is CBD Isolate?
CBD isolate is an extract comprised of 100% pure cannabidiol. It contains no terpenes or other compounds in hemp. Because of this, it’s flavorless, odorless and colorless. CBD isolate offers a stronger concentration of pure CBD per milligram.
#11: Is CBD Safe for Pets?
CBD is widely regarded as being safe for pets. Because all mammals have an endocannabinoid system, CBD offers the same benefits to our pets that it does to us. However, you should always speak with your vet before giving a pet CBD. And, you should only ever give a pet a CBD product that is made for their species, as it will contain the appropriate potency level for their body, and ingredients that are safe for them.
#12: How Often Should I Take CBD?
For the best results, it’s recommended that one takes CBD daily. The endocannabinoid system is more capable of doing its job when it’s given a daily supply of cannabinoids. The more frequently you take CBD, the more effective it may be. Most of our customers use CBD as part of a daily routine.
#13: Will CBD Make Me Fall Asleep?
Some people report mild grogginess when taking CBD, especially in high doses. But, most individuals find that CBD only makes them feel sleepy at nighttime, since it works with our natural circadian rhythm. If you want to use CBD for sleep, we recommend taking a dose of it shortly before going to bed. If you want to avoid feeling sleepy, take the recommended dose as suggested on the product’s label.
#14: Can CBD Cause Me to Fail a Drug Test?
CBD does not cause the body to release THC-COOH, the enzyme that triggers a positive drug test result. Drug tests administered by employers are not testing for CBD, as CBD is a federally legal substance. The THC in full spectrum hemp is so low that a positive drug test result is extremely unlikely. If you are extremely concerned about taking a drug test, stick to THC-free broad spectrum or CBD isolate products.
#15: How Much CBD Should I Consume Each Day?
The amount of CBD you should consume each day depends on a number of factors such as your body weight, your specific needs and your tolerance to the cannabinoid. Generally, most individuals start with somewhere between 20-40mg per day, as this is considered the standard dosage range.
#16: Can I Take CBD with Other Hemp Products?
You can take CBD with other hemp products, such as products made with delta 8, CBG or THC-O. Cannabinoids complement one another, and there is no risk of a negative interaction between them. CBD works synergistically with other hemp derivatives. Taking CBD with a psychoactive hemp cannabinoid can allow for a more relaxing type of high.
#17: Can I Take CBD if I’m on a Medication?
If you are on medications, you should talk to your doctor before taking CBD. CBD may suppress the CYP3A4 enzyme, which metabolizes many commonly prescribed medications. This could prevent medications from fully breaking down in the body, causing them to accumulate to potentially dangerous levels. Your doctor can give you more guided advice.
#18: What Can CBD Do for Me?
CBD is a cannabinoid with many well-researched properties, including:
- Stress relief
- Pain relief
- Reduced inflammation levels
- Improved mood
- Neurological balance
- Digestive relief
- Skin benefits
- Improved sleep
- Improved focus and concentration
Each person’s experience with CBD may be unique based on the nature of their body. By and large, people consider CBD to be quite calming, and capable of offering relief from physical discomfort.
#19: Is CBD Addictive?
CBD is not reported to be habit-forming. There are no known withdrawal symptoms associated with ceasing to consume the cannabinoid. Most people are able to take CBD daily without developing a dependency on its effects or requiring higher and higher doses as time goes on.
#20: What if CBD isn’t Working for Me?
If CBD is not giving you the results that you desire, we recommend increasing your dosage. Some people, for reasons not fully understood, benefit from higher-than-average doses of CBD each day. If you are not taking CBD each day, consider doing so, as this may make the cannabinoid more effective.
Delta 8
#1: What is Delta 8?
Delta 8 THC is short for (delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol). It’s a naturally occurring cannabinoid in hemp that makes up about 0.1% of the plant. It results from oxidizing delta 9 THC which converts into delta 8 naturally. Delta 8 is an isomer of both delta 9 and CBD.
#2: Will Delta 8 Get Me High?
Delta 8 THC is an intoxicating cannabinoid. Therefore, it will get you high. It’s about 70% as intoxicating as delta 9 THC for comparison. Many people say that the high associated with delta 8 is relaxing, without taking away from mental clarity.
#3: What Does Delta 8 Do?
Besides its intoxicating properties, delta 8 offers a lot of valuable effects to the body. It works mainly with CB1 receptors in the nervous system, and this allows for a series of uses that can be quite beneficial. As of now, delta 8 is believed to:
- Lower inflammation
- Aid in pain relief
- Help with sleep
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Offer benefits to those with epilepsy
- Reduce nausea
- Increase appetite
#4: Is Delta 8 Legal?
Delta 8 THC is a federally legal hemp derivative thanks to the Farm Bill which the US passed in 2018. This law made all hemp derivatives containing a maximum of 0.3% delta 9 THC legal. However, delta 8 THC has been banned in the following states:
- Alaska
- Arizona
- Arkansas
- Colorado
- Delaware
- Idaho
- Iowa
- Mississippi
- Montana
- Rhode Island
- Vermont
- Utah
If you live in one of these states, you cannot legally purchase delta 8 THC products of any kind.
#5: Is Delta 8 Safe?
Delta 8 THC is a nontoxic cannabinoid found in the hemp plant. There are no known dangers associated with its usage. However, because it is intoxicating, it can impair certain tasks. This means that you should be careful when you’re high on delta 8.
6: Can I Drive After Using Delta 8?
Even though delta 8 is legal, you cannot drive while under its influence. Because it’s intoxicating, delta 8 can impair your driving. Not only is this dangerous, but it can cause legal repercussions. Only take delta 8 when you will not be driving for a few hours.
#7: Can Delta 8 Cause Me to Fail a Drug Test?
Delta 8 THC can cause a failed drug test. It’s metabolized by THC-COOH, an enzyme that also breaks down delta 9 THC ( the active psychoactive in marijuana). Drug tests are searching for THC-COOH in the urine, and will not differentiate between delta 8 and delta 9. If you are tested for drugs regularly, you should avoid using delta 8.
#8: Is Delta 8 Going to Make Me Fall Asleep?
Delta 8 THC can aid in sleep, when taken at nighttime, as it works with the body’s natural sleep cycle through the endocannabinoid system. Taking delta 8 during the daytime may cause grogginess due to its intoxicating properties. However, it is less associated with grogginess than delta 9. If you are worried about feeling groggy, you should take delta 8 when you’re home and have no major responsibilities.
#9: What Time of Day is Best for Taking Delta 8?
Delta 8 can be taken at any time, morning, afternoon or night. Most people prefer it in the evening because of its calming effects, which are easier to enjoy when a person is done with their daily tasks. But, it can be enjoyable at any hour, and people take it at all times of day. Therefore, you can take delta 8 THC at any time that suits you.
#10: How Much Delta 8 Should I Take?
Delta 8 THC is intoxicating, so beginners should start with a low dosage of 5 to 10 milligrams to see how it affects them. Most people build a tolerance to the effects over time, allowing them to take higher doses after taking the cannabinoid consistently for a while. You can increase your dosage incrementally as it suits you.
#11: Can I Take Delta 8 with CBD?
Delta 8 and CBD can be taken together safely. These two compounds occur in the same plant, so no interaction will occur. In fact, many people do take delta 8 with CBD. The synergistic relationship between these cannabinoids allows the delta 8’s high to be mellower and even more relaxing.
#12: How is Delta 8 Made?
Delta 8 THC is a naturally occurring component of the hemp plant, so it’s not a synthetic compound. However, since it occurs in such trace amounts in nature, most companies use a method of isomerization. In short, this involves rearranging the molecules of CBD to create delta 8. Then, a distillation process purifies and concentrates the cannabinoid extract.
#13: When was Delta 8 Discovered?
Delta 8 was discovered in 1965 by a team of cannabis researchers. Its properties have been studied for decades despite it only being on the market for a couple of years. Therefore, we have over 50 years of knowledge about this cannabinoid’s safety profile and effects.
#14: Is Delta 8 Safe for Pets?
Delta 8 is not safe for pets. Pets should never be administered any intoxicating substance. Their nervous systems are not designed to handle the psychoactive effects, and this can lead to dangerous results. While pets can be given CBD, delta 8 must be completely avoided.
#15: Can I Give Delta 8 to My Child?
Delta 8 is intoxicating, and should not be administered to any minor. Their bodies are not yet fully developed to tolerate the psychoactive properties of the compound. Further, administering an intoxicating substance to a child can be deemed as child endangerment. CBD can be given to children under the guidance of a pediatrician, but not delta 8.
#16: Is Delta 8 Lab-Tested?
All delta 8 products available on the market are held to the same third-party lab-testing standards as CBD. All of the delta 8 we carry is strictly lab-tested using strict protocol. Lab reports should always be made available by any company that carries delta 8 products. This process looks for purity levels, contaminants and other important pieces of information about the delta 8 extract being used.
#17: Is Delta 8 Going to Interfere with My Medications?
Like CBD, delta 8 may suppress the CYP3A4 enzyme that breaks down many common medications. This could cause medications to fail to metabolize thoroughly, resulting in potentially dangerous accumulations in the bloodstream. If you are on a medication, ask your doctor for further guidance. Only they are authorized to provide medical advice on this topic.
#18: What is a Delta 8 Dab?
A delta 8 dab is a concentrate of delta 8 and other hemp compounds. The process of concentrating delta 8 means that the potency level of dabs is inherently very high. Therefore, dabs are not meant for beginners. The process of dabbing involves applying the concentrate to a dabbing device which flash-vaporizes the product.
#19: What are the Side Effects of Delta 8?
There are no known serious side effects associated with delta 8 THC. However, because delta 8 is intoxicating, you may experience mild, temporary side effects. These include:
- Low blood pressure
- Dry mouth
- Dry eyes
- Anxiety and paranoia
- Feeling “too high”
- Dizziness
- Headache
These side effects are more likely to occur if you’re taking doses that are higher than what is recommended on a product’s label.
#20: Can I Drink When Using Delta 8?
Delta 8 THC and alcohol are both intoxicating substances. It’s best to avoid mixing delta 8 with any intoxicating substance. This could elevate the side effects associated with each, and cause you to become extremely impaired in a way that puts you in danger.
THC-O
#1: What is THC-O?
THC-O (THC-O-acetate) is a cannabinoid that is derived from the hemp plant. It is a psychoactive cannabinoid, which means that it produces a high. THC-O is defined as an acetate ester of THC.
#2: Where Does THC-O Come from?
THC-O is not a naturally occurring cannabinoid. It is made in a laboratory rather than being extracted from the hemp plant. It is the only cannabinoid on the hemp market that is not a natural hemp derivative.
#3: How is THC-O Made?
THC-O is produced from THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid). This is the raw, acidic precursor to delta 9 THC. THCA is combined with acetic anhydride in a laboratory, in order to become THC-O, a cannabinoid with entirely new properties. Note that the THC-O produced for the hemp market is made using extremely strict standards of quality and safety.
#4: When Was THC-O Discovered?
THC-O was not discovered per se, as it’s not a natural cannabinoid. Rather, it was invented in the middle of the 20th century. It was developed by the US military. The goal was to create a highly intoxicating cannabinoid that could potentially immobilize opponents.
#5: How Intoxicating is THC-O?
THC-O is reported as being somewhere around 300% as intoxicating as delta 9 THC. This means that THC-O may get you 3 times as high as delta 9. It’s the second most intoxicating cannabinoid that we know of at the moment (after THC-P). Therefore, take this into account before using it.
#6: I’m New to Hemp Products. Should I Start with THC-O?
THC-O is an extremely powerful psychoactive. Therefore, we do not recommend it for beginners. If you’re new to hemp and desire a psychoactive cannabinoid, we recommend starting with delta 8. Once you become accustomed to these intoxicating effects, you can move onto THC-O.
#7: Is THC-O Legal?
THC-O is federally legal thanks to the passing of the Farm Bill in 2018. This legalized all hemp-derived products in the United States on a federal level, as long as they contain no more than 0.3% delta 9 THC. While THC-O is protected under federal law, it is likely illegal in the following states:
- Alaska
- Arizona
- Arkansas
- Colorado
- Delaware
- Idaho
- Iowa
- Mississippi
- Montana
- Rhode Island
- Vermont
- Utah
#8: Can THC-O Cause Me to Fail a Drug Test?
THC-O will almost certainly result in a failed drug test. THC-O is processed by THC-COOH, the same enzyme that metabolizes delta 9 THC. Standard urine tests seek out THC-COOH in the urine, and if you take THC-O, this will lead to a positive result. Therefore, if you are tested regularly, you should avoid THC-O.
#9: Can I Drive Under the Influence of THC-O?
THC-O is extremely intoxicating, and will therefore cause impairment. This is why you should absolutely not drive while under the influence of THC-O. This can lead to serious danger, and driving will be difficult. Besides that, it is illegal to drive while intoxicated.
#10: What Does THC-O Feel Like?
THC-O’s properties can lead to powerful couchlock and feelings of euphoria. In higher doses, THC-O may even offer mild psychedelic effects. Many people find that THC-O helps with their mood and pain levels. Ultimately, everyone may have a slightly unique experience.
#11: What are the Benefits of THC-O?
THC-O has never undergone clinical studies of any kind. This means that we do not know of any of its benefits at the moment. All that we know is that it has strong intoxicating properties. THC-O may be studied in the future for its effects on the body, as it is a cannabinoid that interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system.
#12: Is THC-O Safe for Pets or Children?
THC-O should absolutely never be given to pets or children under any circumstances. Neither pets nor children have nervous systems properly developed to handle the psychoactive effects of the cannabinoid. This can lead to extremely dangerous results. Pets and children should never be administered any intoxicating substances.
#13: When Should I Take THC-O?
THC-O can be taken at any time of day or night. However, it’s best to use THC-O when you have a clear schedule for several hours. The highly intoxicating nature of the cannabinoid means that it can impair many tasks like working, cooking or caring for others. Consuming THC-O during work hours can cause so much impairment that you may get into trouble with your employer.
#14: Will THC-O Give Me Any Side Effects?
THC-O has not been associated with any major, harmful side effects. However, THC cannabinoids are known to cause certain relatively mild, temporary side effects in certain individuals who are more sensitive to their nature, especially at high doses. These side effects include:
- Paranoia
- Anxiety
- Dry mouth
- Dry eyes
- Reduced blood pressure
- Fatigue
- Dizziness
- Headache
#15: How Much THC-O Should I Consume?
Because of how strong THC-O is, it’s best to start with a low dose as a beginner. Opt for the lowest dosage possible, such as a couple of drops of a tincture, or one puff of a vape. As you develop a tolerance to its effects, you can increase your dosage very gradually. Some individuals can tolerate quite high doses of THC-O.
#16: Does THC-O Help with Sleep?
There is no research-based evidence showing that THC-O directly affects sleep. However, many people find that THC-O makes them feel relaxed, and even sleepy. Therefore, you can try taking it at bedtime to see if it affects your sleep. Note that everyone is different, and some people may feel energized by THC-O.
#17: Can I Use THC-O with Other Cannabinoids Like CBD or Delta 8?
THC-O can be taken with CBD, as CBD may actually make the effects of THC-O milder and more relaxing. “Cutting” THC-O with delta 8 may offer the same effects to a lesser degree. But overall, we always recommend that you should take a new cannabinoid on its own, in a low dose, if you’re a beginner. This way, you can get a feel for its effects and understand how it interacts with your body.
#18: Can THC-O Interfere with My Medications?
If you are taking any medications, you should consult a doctor before taking THC-O. THC-O may suppress the CYP3A4 enzyme which processes many drugs on the market. This could prevent certain drugs from fully metabolizing between doses. Whether or not THC-O has this effect has yet to be confirmed.
#19: How Long has THC-O Been on the Market?
THC-O has been on the market for a little less than a year. Only recently has the hemp industry come up with ways to develop THC-O which are safe and cost-efficient. Despite how new it is, it’s already become an extremely popular cannabinoid, with many users taking it regularly.
#20: Can You Overdose on THC-O?
There are no reports of THC-O causing a toxic overdose. Because it’s such a new cannabinoid, we strongly urge our customers to stick to the instructions on a product’s label. While it’s unlikely that THC-O could cause this effect, its strong psychoactive properties mean that consuming too high of a dose could lead to unwanted side effects and feeling uncomfortably intoxicated.
